About a month ago was report card time, all my kids did great, for the most part. My oldest kid, She is 8 years old, and in the second grade, and she got a pretty bad grade in spelling. Now I know she is smart, and I knew instantly why she wasn’t doing so well. I was part to blame! You might be asking yourself how I could be to blame? Well I didn’t practice her word with her, I didn’t make sure she practiced, and wasn’t quizzing her on her words! I decided at that instant that I was going to help her make a complete turn around with her spelling grade by the next report card time.

What have we been doing?

1. Having her practice her words everyday

2. Using the program spellingcity.com to learn her words

3. Quizzing her everyday

Everyday when my kids get home the first thing I have them do is, homework. And I take full partnership with their homework. So far since I have been helping my daughter she has taken two tests, and she has been doing wonderful! I feel good as  a parent knowing that I am helping her, gain confidence in herself. My daughter knows now that she, can pass her tests, if she puts the effort into practice.

Parents, please help your kids with their homework. It can make a huge difference. Don’t leave it all up to them, because they need our help and guidance. Sometimes our kids don’t know what they are capable of achieving, until we help them discover what the outcome can be, given time, and effort, and practice. Let’s help our kids be successful.
