Today all across the world teen pregnancies are on the rise. Some of us would call it “babies having babies”. Young teens have the idea that it will be fun to be a mommy, and it will be so easy to take care of.

What has happened in today’s society? On the news you see popular American teen idols such as Brittney or Jamie spears having babies, you also may recall the group of teens that made a pact to get pregnant together! On some of today’s popular talk shows ( Tyra Banks, Maury)  there have been young teen moms and pregnant teens boasting about being a young mother and stating that “they can raise a baby” and “I will finish school”.

The truth of the matter is most young teen moms drop out of school. Is it that todays parents aren’t parenting correctly? Or that the schools aren’t teaching enough about it? Or perhaps maybe it’s due to todays television, or the want to be like the young movie stars that are all over the news becoming pregnant?

Whatever the cause it is a sad story told over and over again. In alot of cases the grandparents end up taking care of the babies because lets face it teens don’t have the money or resources. Most of them live on welfare and in alot of cases the babies are fatherless.

The parents of America need to take a stand and come together to change the way kids are being raised! The schools need to come up with a better program that discusses sex, and pregnancy along with the sexual education. Celebrities need to take a stand and help be better examples for the children and teens that idolize them!

Teenagers need to know how hard it is to be a parent, and how hard it it to take care of a baby, and all the expenses that come along with it. They need to be taught the extent of the fact that being a parent means being responsible for another person life, and well being, and putting them before yourself. Talk to your kids! Take a stand!
